The Quokka is a small marsupial that comes from the family of the Kangaroos and the Wallabies. It is a rather small animal that is about the size of a small dog or an average cat. They can be found on the western side of Australia. They are very quiet animals, very docile and easy to handle.

While the Quokka has a very relaxed nature, they can get very territorial in the wild during certain times of the year, but aside from this they are very docile and perfect to have as pets. There is a debate about this because of some people considered they do not belong in homes and that the wilderness is the the only place they should be.

Regardless of this difference of opinions, they are certainly very friendly creatures that make perfect pets.

They can be kept as pets and they are very friendly animals that love to be around humans. They are also very cute and playful and this makes them perfect pets for anyone to have in their homes. Their care consists of feeding them vegetables and fruits and they only need to have a warm place to sleep

every night, especially on those cold winter nights.

What Do They Eat ?

Quokkas love all kinds of natural food. They go crazy for carrots, celery, corn, sweet potatoes and all the food that humans should consume to live happy and healthy lives. If we decided to take on the diet of a Quokka, we would have a healthier body. They eat all kinds of grass and leaves in their wild habitat.

Where do they live ?

They can be found in semi-arid scrubs and also in cultivated habitats. They need a warm habitat that has plenty of grass so that they can make paths and have special escape routes in case a predator tries to hunt them down. They always have a nice exit plan for emergencies.

Do They Migrate ?

Quokkas do not migrate just like all other marsupials they always stay in their territory unless there are extremely dangerous circumstances, but they don’t generally migrate at all.

How many live ?

Quokkas will usually have just one baby Quokka for every pregnancy. Sometimes they might have twins, but this only happens on very rare occasions. Their mother carries them in her pouch for about 5 to 6 months and they will stay with their parents for about 35 weeks before becoming

independent. 

They reach maturity at about 18 months of age and on average

they live for around 5 to 6 years.

The Quokka is one of the few animals who can go for long periods without needing water. This is because they absorb all the moisture they require from the varied vegetarian diet that they have and this is the key for them not needing actual water for extended periods.

Is It Like Kangaroo ?

There is no way to compare the two except for their big feet and the fact that they are closely related in their species. The Kangaroo is a much bigger and more aggressive animal that is not very easy to handle, while the Quokka is very small and friendly, with some characteristics that are close to that of rodents than a marsupial. The kangaroo is certainly not an animal that you could easily keep as a house pet, but the Quokka is.

They play a major role in the ecosystem because they keep certain plants to a perfect level of growth. They are also a very important part of the food chain for many other animals and while it might seem a little sad to think about it, if the Quokkas were extinct then there would be many animals

that would have a hard time finding food.

The Quokka probably doesn’t feel very happy about being such a delightful the dish for so many animals, but this is the way nature works and their the population seems to remain in good numbers so far.
